Captain America: The Winter Soldier

The majority of the movie takes place in the Washington DC area and it was actually shot at at some of the most prominent national landmarks, including the Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, National Air and Space Museum, and the Capitol Building just to name a few.  Plus Captain America is stylin’ a new “stealth” suit in this movie.  It’s a navy blue, utilitarian-looking suit that moves fluidly. Makes sense that Captain America forgoes the traditional target on his chest since he is working in special ops for this movie.   The suit has plenty of texture and looks like Kevlar, which is able to protect Captain America but at the same time acts as a military uniform.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is a fast, action-packed movie with amazing chase and fight scenes.  I’m not crazy superhero fan, though I do enjoy the movies and story lines.  I am, though, a huge action adventure movie buff and the first chase scene with Fury was awesome.  There is one line in the movie that was my favorite…I’m not going to ruin it for you, but it references an 80’s movie.  It had the entire theater in an uproar because it was perfect!  A lot of the movie shows the S.H.I.E.L.D and what is going on there plus there are some clues for upcoming movies in the whole Marvel series.

So, will I take my kids?  You betcha!  They have seen all the others and are super excited for this one.  I have a 4yo and a 9yo and I know they will love it!  There are just a handful of curse words and most aren’t super obvious.  There is no “adult situations”..however the running joke is that Black Widow is trying to set up Captain America on a date.  The action and fights can be intense, but if your kids have seen the others they would likely be okay with this one.

CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER is rated PG-13 and is in theaters beginning 4/4/14!
