Eddie the Eagle Movie Review

The movie Eddie the Eagle is based on the true story of Michael “Eddie” Eagle as he sets out to reach his life-long dream of going to the Olympics. Set back after set back he continues to preserve and earn his way to the 1988 Olympic games in Calgary.

Eddie the Eagle Movie Review

Eddie the Eagle stars Taron Egerton as Eddie and Hugh Jackman as his unlikely coach as they win the hearts of sports fans as Britian’s first ski-jumper in along time. The events surrounding this movie are set in the same Olympic games of the familiar story of a Jamaican bob sled team that won our hearts many years ago.  Eddie will make you fall in love with ski-jumping during this classic underdog movie.  I won’t tell you how he does in the games…you have to see the movie.

However, if you are planning on taking your kids please note there are two scenes to be aware of before going in.  I took my 11 year old daughter with me to see the movie and the sauna scene was a little embarrassing for her.  The guys are covered in strategic areas with cleverly placed objects, but she thought it a little inappropriate (those are her words).  I thought it was awkwardly funny.  The second scene to consider is when Eddie begins his real training with his coach. The entire scene is basically filled with sexual innuendo and how everything Eddie will do while jumping can be related to making love with a movie star.  Depending on your child, it might be a great time to step out for a popcorn refill.
