Meet the Locals: Junk in the Trunk

meet the locals

Welcome to EVMG’s new series!  We will be spotlighting various Arizona Bloggers on our Meet the Locals series.  We are so excited to share Lindsey from Junk in the Trunk with y’all today.

Junk in the Trunk

Tell us more about Junk in the Trunk, you, and your family.

I am Lindsey one of the creative minds behind Junk in the Trunk Vintage Markets.  My girlfriend Coley and I found we had a common bond of always wanting more junk in our trunks. We share a passion for things old and rusty and love home decor and finding a good bargain. Truthfully, we love finding something that is junk to someone else but a treasure to us.  We want to create an environment for people to bring their handmade creations and sweet vintage finds to one location for all to see, enjoy, and buy. And there was born Junk in the Trunk Vintage Markets.

Junk in the Trunk 3

I was born with junkin’ in my blood. When I was younger, I remember going to junk sales, estate sales, and yard sales with my parents on a regular basis. Their house to this day is filled with antiques and all sorts of treasures that remind me of my youth. In high school, I used to search for the funkiest t-shirts I could find in thrift stores. The bottom line is that Junk in the Trunk Vintage Markets is a product of my love for junk. It’s been a dream of mine to have a place in Arizona (where vintage items are not as easy to find) where junk lovers can find quality vendors and unique items throughout the year.

I am blessed to have a family filled with craziness around the clock. Between my husband and my three kids under 4, it never stops. At the end of the day, I wouldn’t trade them for anything……..well, maybe I’d consider it if it was a vintage industrial card catalogue or something like it.

What is your favorite park, restaurant, or craft store in the Valley (or AZ)?

Wow so many options!  With 2 small ones we spend of lot time at splash pads and parks.  One of our favorites is the Anthem Community park!  Quite north for most people, but its not far from me.

What is your favorite vacation spot in Arizona?

I love northern Arizona it reminds me of home.  I’m from Washington originally, anywhere north in the green and trees feels like home.

What is your favorite type of food?

Ooh how can I pick!  Does dessert or chocolate count!  I love Mexican, a good hamburger, or gnocchi!  Random I know, but I just love to eat!

You do a lot of DIY projects?  What are your favorites?

I love finding new uses for old things and I love projects for my kids or that they can help with.  With 3 small kiddos they are always wanting to help, so its great when I can find projects that they can help me with.

What is your favorite season and why?

My favorite season is Fall, which we don’t get too much of here, so every fall my family always takes a trip to northern Arizona to see some fall colors!
