I was recently contacted by TreeSmart and asked to take a look at their unique pencils. I actually love pencils a little too much so I agreed to check them out. After looking around on their site I knew I’d love these pencils. What I didn’t know was how much my kiddos would LOVE these pencils. What makes TreeSmart pencils so cool is that they are not made out of wood but instead are created by an amazing process that involves wrapping newspaper around graphite.
The pencils in the picture above are colored pencils which came in a recycled cardboard tube and were so pretty with their newsprint showing through. The pencils below are a mix of No. 2 pencils and colored pencils. I am in love with the way the wrapped newspaper shows through and adds character and style to these pencils.
The feature of these pencils that my children love the most can be seen by looking at the No. 2 pencil in the middle of the picture below. The No. 2 pencils have some visible lettering on them which was simply fascinating to my kiddos who kept trying to read it and make sense of it. I had the pencils on the table for days before I photographed them and they kept asking me if I was through with them yet and when they could have the pencils.
I find these pencils so fascinating. TreeSmart also has several pencil products made from recycled items and also carries rulers. Aren’t they cool? I think they would be fun as stocking stuffers or to send to school with your kids.
TreeSmart sent me some pencils to review in order to facilitate this review.

I think it’s great that they’re made from recycled materials!
I love that they are recycled. We have some regular pencils we got that are recycled and the kids love them. We could also use some new colored pencils for school lessons. 🙂
