I love to drink a glass of wine on occasion. However, I am not an expert on fancy pairings, detecting “woodsy notes,” or knowing someone crushed the grapes Lucille Ball style. My first “parings” were kettle corn and Gewürztraminer or Riesling. This was back post-college days in my apartment when I would invite my boyfriend over to watch movies on a 15″ TV. Fast-forward eight years and said boyfriend is now my husband and father to my three boys. We are still in front of the (bigger) TV, the kids are asleep, and we are having a glass of wine. Thanks to the experts at Old World Gourmet with their unique flavors and fun products, I have made something special to celebrate our anniversary- frozen wine!
We had the opportunity to try the “Vinolicious” frozen wine mixes from Old World Gourmet and they were absolutely perfect! They have a great selection of mixes for snacks and drinks. I chose the Peach Bellini and the Blueberry Pomegranate. They are really a breeze to mix up and would be great for a party since they can be frozen ahead of time. (They can also be made in the blender with ice.) I made the Peach Bellini with a bottle of white wine, and decided to save the Blueberry for my next get-together. I think it will be perfect for a girl’s night!
How to make “Vinolicious” Wine Mixers:
Empty Box Contents into 2 quart pitcher or 1 gallon ziplock freezer bag.
Add 1 750ml bottle of your favorite wine.
Refill wine bottle with water and add to mix. Shake and freeze for approx 3 hrs.
Remove from freezer and thaw to desired serving consistency. (We liked that it got a little slushier as we ate it.)
The Peach Bellini was bright and sweet- I thought maybe it would be too sweet for my husband, but he loved it! It really turned a regular bottle of white wine into a delicious treat!
