Arizona Centennial Celebrations

Arizona is turning 100 years old on February 14, 2012! The state is planning a big celebration for this weekend, February 11-12 at the Arizona State Capitol Mall.

The best part about the Arizona Best Fest is that it is a free event. Planned activities include:
  • Food
  • Entertainment
  • Cultural Villages
  • Family Fun Zone
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Education Pavilions

Best Fest will also  include some live performances from Jerry Piopelle, Michelle Brand, and Gin Blossoms.

For all of the Best Fest details including times and location, please visit their website.

If a big all day event isn’t your thing you can still participate in some centennial celebrations.

Arizona Centennial Storytimes: Tempe Public Library

Every Tuesday and Wednesday in February, come listen to fun stories all about Arizona and the wondrous things our state has to offer. Parents and children will delight in the joys of songs, rhymes, movement activities and finger plays that not only encourage early learning but also provide a strong appreciation for Arizona.

More information at the Tempe Public Library Website.

The website Az100years.org has tons of events that span all of 2012. It is a great resource for centennial events. I highly recommend checking it out!
East Valley Mom Guide will be celebrating the Centennial with several fun posts in the coming week, so get ready to say Happy Birthday Arizona!
