The BFG: Movie Review

I’ll be honest with y’all…I had never heard of The BFG until the movie promos started.  I hadn’t read the book and I didn’t know what the movie was really about.

The BFG is the story of an orphaned girl who is kidnapped by a giant. Sophie is initially frightened by the giant, but quickly falls in love with him and names him the Big Friendly Giant.  She then soon learns that the BFG is really the only friendly giant and also the smallest of the giants in GiantLand.  They end up becoming great friends and help save England from the evil giants.  The story is about finding friendship in unlikely places and overcoming bullies.  It’s such a sweet story between two unlikely friends who desperately needed each other.

The movie was beautiful…absolutely stunning.  I thought the movie was good and my daughter loved it.  She is reading the book now and can’t put it down.  I say skip the 3D version, but I’m really not a huge fan of 3D movies; however, a few of my blogger friends who saw the movie with me said the 3D was awesome.

The BFG opens nationwide today (7/1).
