I saw this movie a few weeks ago and I’m still struggling with putting words to this movie. It’s a beautifully shot movie, the characters are amazing, the actors were brilliant; however, the movie is hard to process on some levels.
It dives deep into topics that we don’t normally like to talk about like suicide and mental illness, but it’s more than that. Captain Fantastic shares the struggles of one family to regain control of their way of life in the wake of their mom’s suicide.
Everything they know and believe is put to the ultimate test, but what shines through is their love of their family and the sacrifices parents must make to keep their family together.
This movie is definitely not for children. It’s definitely a must-see movie, but be prepared to have some strong emotions and probably a need to discuss the movie afterwards. Great date night movie with a spouse or a really good friend.
Captain Fantastic is now playing everywhere.
Rated R, Run Time 118 minutes
