We recently had the chance to attend a Circus Vargas show in Tempe, AZ. I wasn’t too sure what to expect, but I’m not going to make you wait for my reaction. I (and my whole family) LOVED it!
It is a one ring circus under a big tent. I don’t think there was a bad seat in the house. The show gets started by inviting all the kids to come into the ring and learn some circus acts like hula-hooping, juggling scarves, and balancing peacock feathers on there arm and chin.
Then the show starts off quickly and just keeps going and going. There was very little down time and when there was the clown kept everyone entertained. From balancing, to trapeze, to motorcycles in a cage, to a man being shot from a cannon…it was awesome. (I apologize for the picture quality, there were lots of spotlights and smoke effects.)
At first, I thought the ticket prices were a little steep…actually, I still think that and $3.00 for a can (a 12oz can) of soda is ridiculous. However, there were lots of discount tickets available through different places, so that made the prices more reasonable.
One thing I will say that I did not care for, was the staff asking to take our picture before the show began and then during the show walking around with the prints trying to get us to buy them. Um…no thank you! It was just odd.
To end on another positive note, all the performers come out after the show and sign autographs and meet everyone. That was such a great personal touch. The show was great; however, some of the other side money makers seemed way over priced and out of place.
Disclaimer: I received tickets for my family to attend the show. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
