Cirque du Soleil’s touring production KOOZA has hit Phoenix, and Kids* can get tickets on select performances for as little as $25! Keep reading for my review from last night’s show.Cirque du Soleil is pleased to announce that it has returned to Phoenix with its big top touring production KOOZA. KOOZA is now performing for a limited engagement under the trademark blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau (Big Top) at the University of Phoenix Stadium.
KOOZA is a return to the origins of Cirque du Soleil: It combines two circus traditions – acrobatic performance and the art of clowning. The show is set in an electrifying and exotic visual world full of surprises, thrills, chills, audacity and total involvement. Truly an adrenaline rush of acrobatics in a crazy kingdom!

*Well, that is the text I am supposed to give you; however, this show is NOT entirely appropriate for children. I took my 7yo daughter to the show and actually almost walked out because some of the content was not appropriate for a 7yo. In fact, I would give this show more of a PG13 rating, if I had to rate it.
The actual acts that make Cirque du Soleil awesome were fantastic. In fact, there were some new acts that I hadn’t seen before in a Cirque show! My daughter was so impressed and amazed. However, my problem was with the clown sketches. They were not kid friendly. Many of them were very sexual in nature like two male clowns rolling around on the stage kissing and another clown pretending he was a “happy” dog on someone’s leg…you know what I mean, right?! These are just two of the many instances that made me cringe.
I loved the show and I would highly recommend it, but maybe for a date night or girls night out. Leave the kids at home….especially kids under 12 or 13.
Disclaimer: I was given 2 tickets to the show for my promotion of the event. I was not required to write a positive review, all opinions are my own.
We loved this show! However, I *am* glad I left my children (10 and under) at home. Definitely teen and above content. A fantastic date night though! I look forward to taking my kids to a Cirque show when they are teens – and they can hardly wait.
Got to agree with you on the child-appropriateness. I did not consider the clown activity to be very family friendly…
