Meet the Locals: Better After

Today on Meet the Locals we are welcoming one of my favorite local bloggers, Lindsey from Better After. Lindsey serves up great inspiration every day in the form of before and after transformations around the home.

Tell us more about your site, you, and your family. Hi! My name is Lindsey, and I grew up in Eagar, Arizona.  My husband Matt is also from Eagar, and we have three kids, Blake – 11, Koy – 6, and Mia – 4.   My blog is called Better After, and it serves up a hot helping of the best before and after projects the internet has to offer with a side of inspiration, ten times a week!

What is your favorite park, restaurant, or craft store in the Valley? One of my favorite restaurants in the Valley is Joe’s Farm Grill, which has the world’s best fried zucchini ever.  There is also a little cafe here on the west side called Zen’s.  The BEST fried catfish I’ve ever had, seriously. As far as craft stores, you can’t beat SAS fabrics, not only for prices, but for the experience as a whole!

What is your favorite vacation spot in Arizona? Everybody needs to visit Jerome at least once.  It’s such a cool place.  I’d like to get up enough nerve to stay at the haunted hotel sometime.  Maybe.

What is your favorite type of food? Anything really!  There’s nothing I won’t try, except for that one time at a Chinese buffet when my husband tried to get me to eat what I’m pretty sure was a baby octopus.

What kinds of posts do you do a lot of?  What are your favorites? My blog is very specific, I only feature before and after pictures of furniture and decor makeovers, room renovations, and things like that.  They are all my favorites!  I have over 2,000 posts! (No, I do not personally do all these makeovers!) By far one of the most popular posts is the Zebra Kid Kitchen  made from an old entertainment center.  Pinterest has really helped blow that post up.  Here are just a couple of my recent favorites:

Emerald Green Makeovers: Totally Oz-some.

A truly vintage kitchen makeover: A Rubik’s Cube Kitchen

What is your favorite section on your site?  What are a few posts from that section that you love?  One of my favorite categories is “Innovative Ideas” which are not always the hugest projects, but just things have an extra “huh!” factor, either from using something old in an entirely new way, or an unorthodox technique to fix a problem.  One of my favorite recent posts was how a girl cleverly disguised her wall intercom.

What events in AZ do you never miss? We like the State Fair, Monster Jam,  haven’t been to the Renaissance Festival in a few years, but that’s always a good time too.  Up in Eagar there’s Eagar Days and the ATV Jamboree, and you CAN’T miss the 4th of July there!

What is your favorite season and why?  FALL!  It’s the best.  The best weather, the best foods, the best smells, plus the anticipation of the holidays without all the freaked out frenzy.   Although, February in Phoenix can’t hardly be beat either.

ASU or UofA?  Neither?  I went to school in Utah!
