Without a doubt, Peanuts is my favorite cartoon. My house is full of Peanuts collectibles and the movies, especially It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Charlie Brown Christmas, are a special tradition in my home. We like to make themed snacks when we watch movies, so we whipped up this quick and easy popcorn recipe: Peppermint Patty Popcorn.
Peppermint Patty Popcorn
Ingredients
- 1 bag of microwave popcorn
- 2 peppermint patties (approx .6 ounces each)
- 1/2 tbs butter or shortening
Directions
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Pop the popcorn and spread it on the baking sheet to cool.
- Place the peppermint patties and butter in a glass dish and heat in the microwave for 15 seconds and then stir. Repeat until melted and smooth. Avoid heating too much or the chocolate will begin to bake.
- Using a fork, drizzle or flick the chocolate mixture onto the chocolate. Allow it to cool and then toss it in a bowl.
- Enjoy the popcorn treat right away for best results.
Notes: Peppermint patties do not melt as well as chocolate chips, so really watch them in the microwave and make sure not to overcook them. Mine did not melt thin enough to pour over the popcorn, I had to flick the chocolate on with a fork. It’s a little messier than drizzling but it actually looks cool on the popcorn.
Sit back and watch a Peanuts cartoon with this fun treat.
I saw those bags today while I was out shopping but I din’t pick one up. I might head back tomorrow just to grab one. Your Peppermint Patty Popcorn recipe looks good and now I’m thinking it’s snack time!
