OFFICIAL SYNOPSIS:
From Disney comes two-time Oscar® winner Brad Bird’s riveting, mystery adventure “Tomorrowland,” starring Academy Award® winner George Clooney. Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as “Tomorrowland.” What they must do there changes the world—and them—forever.
Featuring a screenplay by “Lost” writer and co-creator Damon Lindelof and Brad Bird, from a story by Lindelof & Bird & Jeff Jensen, “Tomorrowland” promises to take audiences on a thrill ride of nonstop adventures through new dimensions that have only been dreamed of.
Honestly, I’m torn on how I felt about this movie. It was shot well and had good special effects; however, it wasn’t entirely what I had expected it to be about from the trailers and even seeing a sneak peek at the 2015 Disney Social Media Moms Celebration a couple weeks ago.
My 10yo daughter loved the movie and said it was a little sad at the end. However, despite the PG rating this movie is not for the younger kids. It’s too much talking about things they won’t understand so I think my 6yo will be sitting this one out.
Yes, George Clooney is the star, but the movie is more about the girl (Casey) and how she can save the world. There seemed to be a lot of political “global warming” type undertones to the movie as well.
Now, I’m not saying the movie is completely a bust. The setting is beautiful and it was great to see a teenage girl be the heroine of a movie. She was strong and smart and {not to spoil the movie} saved the day. It’s worth seeing with the older kids, just leave the little ones at home.
Tomorrowland is rated PG and is in theaters beginning 5/22/15!
