Finding Neverland is playing this week at ASU Gammage and kids of all ages will love it.
Finding Neverland is the fictional story of how Peter Pan was created and came to life. You will see all your favorite characters from the story we all know and love, but they are not the focus of this particular story and they only make a few small appearances. However, the musical score and the choreography are absolutely amazing. This was hands down the best show of the 2016-2017 season at Gammage.
I loved the creative special effects. I’m not going to elaborate because I’d hate to spoil it for you. There is a scene toward the end of the show that is amazing that you just don’t want to miss. It is so beautifully done and not something I’ve ever seen done before in a show.
And these kids….wow….these 4 boys sing and dance and play instruments and act. WOW. They were incredible.
A few notes for parents considering taking their kids. The content is mostly fine for kids. There is the discussion of divorce and being unfaithful. There are few curse words (but nothing that you wouldn’t hear on prime time television). And a joke by one actor about being around “fairies” all day long, but not in the tinkerbell-type of fairy way. My kids loved it and a lot of more mature subject matter did go over their heads.
